Albert Lynch was a Peruvian painter best known for his academic watercolor, pastel, and oil portraiture of Victorian-era French women. Born in 1851 in Trujilo, Peru, he travelled to Paris in the late 19th century to study art at the l'École des Beaux-Arts, working under French academicists such as Henri Lehmann and Jules Achille Noel. Exhibiting regularly in the Salon, Lynch eventually garnered a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900, while also maintaining a career by providing illustrations for numerous novels of the day such as La Parisienne by Henry Becque and La Dame aux Camelias by Alexandre Dumas. Lynch is thought to have died in 1912 in Monaco, although there is historical incongruity on the dates of the artist’s birth and death. Ultimately, the records of Lynch’s life remained unconfirmed.

She was an English painter whose works were influenced by the style of the Pre - Raphaelite movement. She was a follower of Pre-Raphaelist Edward Burne - Jones.  Her paintings exhibit spirituality use of mythological, biblical, and literary themes, the role of women, light and darkness as metaphors, life and death, and allegories of war.

In August 1883, Evelyn met the ceramicist William De Morgan, and in 5 March 1887, they married. They spent their lives together in London.  De Morgan, a pacifist, expressed her horror at the First World War and South African War in over fifteen war paintings including The Red Cross and S.O.S.

Relative to artistic pursuits, money was unimportant to the De Morgans; any profits from sales of Evelyn's paintings went toward financing William's pottery business and she actively contributed ideas to his ceramics designs.

The painter, John William Waterhouse, 6 April 1849 – 10 February 1917

He was an English painter known for working in the Pre - Raphaelite style. Born in Italy to English parents who were both painters, he later moved to London, where he enrolled in the Royal Academy of Art.

He worked several decades after the breakup of the Pre - Raphaelite Brotherhood, which had seen its heyday in the mid-nineteenth century, leading to his sobriquet "the modern Pre-Raphaelite". Borrowing stylistic influences not only from the earlier Pre-Raphaelites but also from his contemporaries, the Impressionists, his artworks were known for their depictions of women from both ancient Greek mythology and Arthurian legend.

Waterhouse's favorite subjects were  Ophelia and Lady of Shalot. He painted them in different versions and series. Unfortunately, he could not finish the series of Ophelia paintings because he was gravely ill with cancer by 1915. He died two years later, and his grave can be found at Kensal Green Cemetery in London.
